The World was Bound to go Eventually: Entry 1

Tuesday

Dear Diary,

This is a joke right? Yesterday everything was fine, it was normal. School was the same, I ate the same lunch as always, I passed by the same ice cream truck on the way home, and I went to sleep at 8:30 as usual. So why is this happening?

I woke up to the sensation of heat, a strange smell, and a crackling sound. At first I thought nothing of it and kept my eyes closed, but then I heard a screech. It was an awful sound that resounded in my ears. I sprung up and opened my eyes, and was greeted with fire; my house was burning. I got out of the house to escape the fire, but it didn’t really matter, because no matter where I went to, the sea of flames never failed to be there.

This was already enough for me to hope it was all just a bad dream, but then I looked up. The first thing I realized was that the sky was no longer blue, it was pitch black. That in itself was already terrifying, but then I looked directly up. There was a tear in the sky. It looked so wrong, I couldn’t even look at it for more than a few seconds. It was a color I’d never seen before, it was a color that the human eyes weren’t meant to see.

I called for my parents, my sister, anyone, but nobody answered. I took my hand and slapped myself as hard as I could, but I didn’t wake up. I read random signs and flags on the buildings over and over again, but the words never distorted, disappeared, or changed. I could read them clearly, it wasn’t a dream.

I was about to break out in tears until I heard the screech again, but this time, it was much, much closer. I looked behind me, and saw something I only ever believed existed in the darkest nightmares. It was a horrifying amalgamation of human flesh and bones. It held a humanoid shape, but is was melting at the seams. I looked at the unholy beast in terror, I tried to scream but nothing came out. I tried to run, but I was paralyzed. The being that stood before me looked down at me and began to come even closer. I started crying, I didn’t want to die, I want to see my family again, my friends, I wanted to wake up and have everything back to normal. But alas, fate had other plans.

I don’t know what happened next, but I remember hearing someone say, “It’s a survivor! Prepare for rescue, FIRE!” I passed out soon after, and fell into a sleep filled with nightmares.
